Lead the architecture implementation and operations of our on premises OpenShift 4.x platform. Youll ensure reliability scalability and security while guiding best practices for CI/CD (Azure DevOps & GitHub) and automation. This position plays a key role in modernizing workloads migrating VMs and enabling development teams.
Responsibilities:
Platform Architecture & Engineering
- Architect and deploy on prem OpenShift clusters including infrastructure nodes workers load balancers storage and networking.
- Oversee cluster scaling resiliency HA configurations node tuning and MachineConfig operations.
CI/CD GitOps & Dev Enablement:
- Lead GitOps strategy using Argo CD integrated with Azure DevOps & GitHub repositories.
- Architect standardized pipelines using Azure DevOps Pipelines and GitHub Actions where applicable.
- Build golden templates Helm charts Operators and self-service onboarding patterns.
Operations & Reliability:
- Own Day-2 operations: cluster upgrades patching certificate management disaster recovery and cluster health.
- Manage monitoring and observability with Prometheus Alertmanager and Grafana.
- Lead incident response (including on-call rotation) root-cause analysis and platform SLOs.
Security & Compliance:
- Implement security controls: RBAC SCCs/Pod Security network policies image security signing and vulnerability management.
- Integrate identity (OIDC/SSO/AD) and secrets management tools.
- Lead compliance reviews and ensure platform adherence to internal and external standards.
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Provide technical direction and mentor mid-level/junior engineers.
- Lead design reviews and platform roadmap planning.
- Engage with Red Hat support and TAM for escalated issues and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 6 10 years in infrastructure/platform engineering including 3 5 years with OpenShift 4.x.
- Hands-on experience operating on prem OpenShift (IPI/UPI installs bare metal virtualization integration).
- Strong Linux (RHEL) administration networking (CNI VLANs DNS TLS) and storage (CSI/NFS/iSCSI/Ceph).
- Proficiency with Ansible and Terraform.
- Experience with pipelines in Azure DevOps and GitHub.
- Proficiency in scripting (bash/Python) and Git-based workflows.
Preferred:
- Red Hat certs: EX280 EX288 EX460 or CNCF CKA/CKS.
- Experience with OpenShift Service Mesh Advanced Cluster Management (ACM) and backup/restore (OADP/Velero).
- VM migration experience (e.g. VMware OpenShift Virtualization).
- Expertise with OpenShift Virtualization (CNV/KubeVirt).
