Okta Developer -Gainwell -W2/$60 -C2C -Hybrid 2 days Onsite -Sacramento
designs builds and enhances identity solutions within a large enterprise scale Identity and Access Management (IAM) environment. This role develops advanced integrations automation workflows and custom identity logic to support a high volume user base and a broad portfolio of applications relying on Okta for authentication authorization and lifecycle management. The developer is responsible for creating scalable secure and resilient identity services that streamline access reduce operational overhead and strengthen the organizations security posture.
Working closely with security architects application owners and engineering teams the Okta Developer translates complex business and security requirements into technical solutions using Okta Workflows APIs event hooks and modern authentication standards. This role plays a critical part in IAM modernization efforts driving automation improving user experience and ensuring that identity services remain reliable and compliant across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Development
* Design and develop custom identity solutions using Okta Workflows APIs and event hooks
* Build and maintain SCIM connectors provisioning logic and custom integrations
* Develop automation for lifecycle management access governance and identity operations
* Implement custom authorization logic and advanced policy configurations
Integration Engineering
* Build and support SAML OIDC and OAuth integrations for enterprise applications
* Collaborate with application teams to translate requirements into secure identity patterns
* Troubleshoot complex integration issues across authentication provisioning and API layers
Platform Enhancement
* Contribute to IAM modernization initiatives and architectural improvements
* Evaluate new Okta features and recommend adoption strategies
* Develop reusable components templates and automation frameworks
Security & Compliance
* Ensure identity solutions align with enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements
* Support audit reporting and compliance activities through automation
* Maintain secure coding practices and identity centric risk controls
Documentation & Collaboration
* Produce technical documentation integration guides and workflow diagrams
* Partner with architects security engineers and application owners on solution design
* Provide knowledge transfer and support to operations teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
* 3 years of experience developing identity solutions with Okta
* 5 years of relevant experience as a cloud engineer with following key skills:
o Terraform Ansible CI/CD Development Git. Good Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming Techniques.
o AWS resources including Networking/ECS/EC2/Network/IAM CLI EMR S3 Lambda CloudWatch CloudTrail RDS SSM Secrets Manager & best practices
* Strong proficiency with Okta APIs event hooks and Workflows
* Experience building SCIM integrations and custom provisioning logic
* Solid understanding of SAML OIDC OAuth and modern authentication patterns
* Proficiency with scripting or programming languages (JavaScript Python PowerShell etc.)
Preferred Skills
* Experience with serverless platforms (AWS Lambda)
* Familiarity with microservices and REST API design
* Knowledge of IAM architecture Zero Trust and identity governance
* Exposure to DevSecOps practices
