Job Summary

Job Description:
The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for leveraging SAP technologies to design develop and implement moderate to highly complex technical solutions that deliver measurable business value. Operating with minimal supervision this role executes program activities in alignment with technical specifications and serves as a subject matter expert in SAP development. The position also provides technical leadership mentorship and ongoing support to the application development team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders.
Develop and implement technical solutions in accordance with established development standards and best practices.
Conduct root cause analysis on application defects and implement preventative solutions; document corrective actions to enhance the support knowledge base.
Evaluate existing system capabilities identify required changes and assess business impact to ensure solutions align with organizational objectives.
Collaborate with stakeholders to review and validate technical approaches prior to implementation.
Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and ensure updates are made as system changes occur.
Test technical enhancements and partner with business systems analysts during functional integration regression and user acceptance testing; obtain appropriate sign-offs.
Monitor and optimize ABAP programs using tools such as Runtime Analysis Code Inspector SQL Trace and System Log.
Design overall technical system architecture and develop prototypes of major system components.
Adhere to DON-defined methods standards and policies for system development and operations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

Bachelors degree in computer science Information Systems or a related field.
7 years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience.
Strong expertise in data modeling development tools and performance tuning.
Comprehensive understanding of SAP technical architecture including SAP PI/PO functionality.
Proven ability to develop detailed technical specifications based on functional requirements and analysis.
Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
