DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager or designate the Registered Nurse-Pre-Admission Clinic performs pre-admission duties such as reviewing patient information interviewing patients to assess patient needs and discharge planning requirements and providing necessary information to patients physicians and affected hospital departments. Provides pre-operative intra-operative and post-operative patient teaching such as pain management mobility and medical equipment use and care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Ability to organize work and work independently.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
