SUMMARY
In general direction incumbent is a school professional designated to work with school teams for behavioral and instructional support to maximize student achievement and social emotional growth. The role of the behavior specialist is to affect behavior change and provide systemic training support and oversight in the implementation of behavior strategies and intervention plans.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Valid Arizona teaching certificate
Completion of a BCBA approved course sequence in applied behavior analysis.
Recent graduate of an ABA Masters or BCBA certificate program with an exam test date within three months of application
BCBA or BCaBA required
Five years experience with school age children.
Two years working with students with behavioral needs.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Arizona special education teaching certificate
Board Certification through the Board Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
Masters degree in Psychology Special Education or related field
Teaching experience in general education and special education classrooms
Two years of experience as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles) or proof of MMR immunization.
Bloodborne Pathogens Training provided by the Risk Management Department. Training refresher yearly during the course of employment.

Effective:2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR
LOCATION: Exceptional Education Department - Sites Vary
FTE :1.0 - 7.5 hours per day
Work Calendar:9.5 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.For more information on salary schedule please reference theEmployee Agreements Webpage.
Probationary Contracts will be issued for any contingent Certifications Positions that are 0.6 FTE or less and certified employees within their first three years with the District.
