The Northeast Health District is seeking a PrEP Navigator to float and serve all 10 counties. The position is responsible for the planning and implementation of all prevention services related to PrEP including but not limited to education assessment evaluation enrollment data collection financial assistance and follow-up and will work closely with the medical team for diagnostic testing and prescription refills.


Under the supervision of the HIV Prevention Coordinator the PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis) Navigator will be responsible for helping clients navigate and access HIV testing PrEP treatment and care and other community resources. This position will primarily focus on communities that may be at high-risk for HIV. This position is part of a program that serves Barrow Clarke Elbert Greene Jackson Madison Morgan Oconee Oglethorpe and Walton counties.


As a Prep Navigator within the Northeast Health District at the Georgia Department of Public Health you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide in-house and community outreach to at-risk populations to support HIV prevention.
  • Provide rapid HIV testing and risk assessment counseling to clients.
  • Provide culturally competent educational support regarding HIV risk reduction and PrEP services.
  • Assess clients level of risk as well as their intentions to initiate and comply with a PrEP regimen.
  • Assist with benefit enrollment and access to financial assistance programs related to PrEP treatment and services.
  • Conduct eligibility determination enrollment and follow-up for uninsured clients.
  • Work collaboratively with program leadership health department staff and community partners to increase PrEP services within the district.
  • Serve as a client advocate and liaison between the client and community organizations and healthcare entities.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other healthcare services as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in education social behavioral or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university.
