Description

Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence and Analytics the Development Data Manager works with colleagues within the Data and Systems team to vet facilitate and fulfill the high volume of ad-hoc data requests on behalf of the Office of Development. The Data Manager partners with the Director to establish and maintain a scalable process for delivering recurring and ad-hoc data products incorporating automated quality checks & formatting standardized templates and visualizations & analyses that enhance client understanding of the data.



Responsibilities

(in order of importance and/or frequency)
Work closely with the Director to streamline automate and document departmental workflows for extracting transforming and formatting data ensuring clients receive timely accurate and user-friendly data products
Partner with the Assistant Director of Data Management to pinpoint and execute opportunities for process improvements including automating and standardizing data-integrity checks and the preparation of corrected data for importing
Support onboarding and training of new hires and provide direct oversight and mentorship to one junior analyst
Fulfill and facilitate ad hoc data requests triaged by Director of Data and System Project Management; actively participate in project launch meetings offer advice on criteria selection based on industry knowledge and analyses of past performance and comfortably translate data concepts to business needs for non-technical clients
Vet and reconcile datasets in Raisers Edge from various data sources pertaining to constituencies including but not limited to prospects donors event registrants patients students alumni and faculty for HIPAA compliance
Perform data imports: Review clean and standardize source data; create import files and run imports using Import-O-Matic. Post-import perform quality control and correct inconsistencies to maintain data integrity
Stay up-to-date in current business processes data governance and protocols and data-related tools and technology
Uphold data privacy exercise critical thinking and best judgment in handling sensitive and critical data
Participate in user testing feedback and training sessions on new data and systems initiatives
Learn and leverage new tools and applications as needed
Provide backup on projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Director
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

(HS/GED; specialized training; degree and discipline)
Bachelors Degree


Minimum Related Experience
(e.g. 1 year in research environment)
Minimum of 3 years experience working in a fast-paced environment 5 years preferred
Experience in a development office preferred


Minimum Computer Skills
(provide program and skill level e.g. MS Word - Basic) (skill levels are Basic Intermediate Advanced)
Must have experience manipulating large datasets using MS Excel and Python or R
Demonstrates competency with streamlining and automating processes using Python or R
Requires foundational experience writing and modifying SQL queries
Experience visualizing data with Tableau Python or R preferred
Experience with Raisers Edge is helpful


General Skills
(e.g. Excellent written and oral communication)
Must be able to organize and prioritize work be proactive take initiative resolve problems follow through and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner
Must be comfortable using database and analytical tools such as SQL MS Access Tableau and Python or R
Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team
Must have a strong customer service orientation
