About The Role

The Family Advocate will support and ensure the compliance of the Head Start Program Performance Standards in the Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms by working closely with HS families and staff.

What Youll Be Doing

Data Entry and Monitoring:

  • Maintains organized electronic and hard copy files for each participant.
    • Audit EHS/HS files quarterly
    • Data entry Scanning attaching and filing documents
  • Utilize ChildPlus software for data entry conduct ongoing monitoring extract reports and analyze data for all content areas (Family Services Health Disabilities Attendance PIR and Education).
  • Creates monthly mandate calendars for teachers.
  • Participates in peer-to-peer auditing for monitoring purposes.

Meetings and Family Engagement:

  • Empower and support parent advocacy by facilitating and delivering a Research-Based Parent Curriculum.
  • Facilitating and coordinating parent meetings including but not limited to
    • securing a guest speaker if needed
    • translating parent meetings
    • ordering and picking up food
    • securing childcare
    • and all other parent meeting duties
  • Works closely with center parents and guardians to provide resources and referrals for emergency assistance shelter food clothing/ all other needs and assists in the completion of documentation.
  • Assists families in making connections to community agencies.
  • Conduct In-person interactions with families during center operational hours.
  • Conduct a Family Assessments Questionnaire twice a year with each family.
  • Supports families in developing and completing Family Partnership goals throughout the program year.
  • Supports families in completing screening tools.
  • Attends Kidango and other partner meetings as directed.
  • Support and attend department and agency events. Some of the events may be outside of operation hours.

ERSEA:

  • Assist the Head Start and Early Head Start program with recruitment and enrollment activities
  • Conducts/Assists with agency/Head Start enrollments to acquire family consent and intake information.

Collaboration:

  • Creating strong relationships with center staff to support quality contact logs collection of EHS-HS documentation and partnership with families.
  • Reviews staff documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Works closely with center staff to conduct home visits twice a year per family when needed
  • Participates and collaborates with interdisciplinary department staff.
  • Build relationships/ partnerships with community agencies
  • Work closely with the Head Start Manager Family Services Manager and/or Health Manager to meet contract requirements.
  • Participate in weekly Bi-weekly and/or monthly required meetings.
  • All other job duties as assigned and deemed necessary to fulfill.

Preferred qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Team oriented.
  • Ability to work effectively and use a positive approach with diverse people.
  • Ability to provide leadership accept responsibility and work autonomously.
  • Proficient in Google Suites and Microsoft Suites.
  • Minimum of AA degree (B.A. preferred) coursework in ECE or related fields.
  • Able to communicate with the public and positively represent the agency.
  • Able to organize and maintain a variety of records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  • Able to operate all computers and software used by the agency.
  • Able to be flexible in work schedule including evening meetings at least three times per quarter
  • Proficient in analyzing data.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish required
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to drive 80% of the time.
  • Available to support night meetings and/or outside working hours (M-F 8 am-5 pm) events.
Compensation
$75741.12$75741.12 USD

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a health screening and TB test
  • Must pass background fingerprint clearance
  • Valid Driver License
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • The ability to lift up to 30lbs may be needed during some job duties
