The Vet Office is currently recruiting an Out-of-Hours Veterinary Surgeon for a well-established and busy veterinary hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident clinician who enjoys emergency and critical care work wants a structured rota with significant time off and is looking for strong professional and financial benefits.
The Role
This position focuses entirely on out-of-hours emergency and critical care cases working as the sole-charge vet during the night shift.
You will be responsible for the management of emergency presentations stabilisation of critical patients and performing urgent surgical procedures when required.
The role offers a varied and interesting caseload with approximately:
60% medical cases
40% surgical cases
You will benefit from a high level of clinical autonomy making this a very rewarding role for veterinarians who enjoy decision-making and developing their emergency medicine skills.
Working Schedule
Night shifts: 8:00 pm 8:00 am (12-hour shifts)
Rota: 5 nights on / 10 nights off (rolling rota)
This schedule provides an excellent work-life balance with extended periods of time off between rotations.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a veterinarian who is comfortable working independently and managing emergency cases.
The ideal candidate will have:
Confidence working sole charge during night shifts
Solid surgical skills and ability to manage urgent procedures
Strong knowledge of small animal medicine and emergency care
A calm proactive approach in high-pressure situations
Previous hospital or ECC experience is desirable but not essential for the right candidate with good clinical foundations.

Salary: depending on experience
VCI and VDS fees fully paid
