Job Summary

Description

The Patient Access Services Representative provides a range of intake and associated administrative services pertaining to patients being admitted to the hospital and/or treatment facility or receiving outpatient services to include obtaining demographic insurance and medical information; collecting co-pays and deposits; scheduling follow-up appointments; and ordering diagnostic tests as directed.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma (Equivalent)

Associates Degree (Preferred)

Certification & Licensures

None Required

Job Duties

  • Facilitate patient and information flow by directing patients to correct locations answering incoming telephone calls and providing administrative support.
  • Provide accurate patient medical financial or procedural information to patients or approved outside entities as directed.
  • Verify patient insurance identifies issues and participates in process improvement initiatives.
  • Collect self-pay balances for hospital and clinic patients while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Handle outgoing and incoming calls correspondence as well as face to face communications with patients.
  • Assess the patients ability to pay.
  • Establishing payment arrangements.
  • Provide patients with Nashville General Hospitals financial assistance program information.
  • Assist patients with applications for government programs (Medicaid).
  • Follow-up to facilitate prompt and accurate resolution of outstanding balances.
