Job Summary
The Department
Areas of interest include but are not limited to materials chemistry polymers (interactive) biomaterials chemistry of life colloidal systems physical intelligence in soft matter machine learning for soft matter molecular systems engineering and complex fluids. We particularly encourage applications from researchers whose research vision is forward-looking whose approach bridges disciplines expertise and tools (experiments theory computation device engineering) who bring complementary expertise and skills that align with and strengthen the strategic research areas of the Department and the University.
Faculty responsibilities include teaching at the BSc and MSc levels mentoring undergraduate students PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers conducting innovative and independent research and contributing to service activities within the Department and the University.
In addition to demonstrating research and teaching excellence the successful applicant will be expected to actively raise research funding and to participate fully in the dynamic collaborative environment of the Department.
Job Requirements
- Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in chemical engineering chemistry physics materials science or a closely related field by the start of employment.
- Postdoctoral experience on a relevant field of research is a plus.
- Ability to conduct high quality academic research reflected in demonstratable outputs.
- A strong research vision and the ambition to build an internationally recognized externally funded frontier research program.
- Motivated to teach contribute to teaching processes and to develop excellent teaching skills.
- Strong cooperation skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
- Effective communication and leadership skills including coaching and mentoring of students and staff leading a project or chairing a group.
- Excellent (written and verbal) proficiency in English.

- Salary in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities scale 11 (min. 4728 max. 6433).
