About the Role
As Teacher of Design Technology (Resistant Materials) you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 with the potential to contribute to KS5 depending on experience curriculum offer and timetable.
You will deliver a well-sequenced curriculum that develops:
Practical workshop skills safe working practices and confidence with tools and machinery
Design process knowledge: research generating ideas modelling prototyping and evaluation
Understanding of materials manufacturing processes and sustainability
Strong literacy and technical communication through design briefs annotations and evaluation writing
Exam confidence through modelling purposeful practice and structured feedback
Students will be supported to design and manufacture high-quality outcomes while developing problem-solving and independent working skills. You will maintain high standards for safety organisation and presentation and help pupils see the real-world relevance of Design Technology.
The Department

Experience and Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification)
Have strong subject knowledge in Design Technology with expertise in Resistant Materials
Deliver engaging well-structured lessons with high expectations for skill and outcome
Promote excellent workshop practice and ensure safe working at all times
Use assessment effectively to secure progress and support improvement
Build positive relationships and maintain a calm purposeful classroom culture
Work collaboratively within a supportive Technology team
