Title: Sr. Staff Accountant
Location: Cambridge MA
Hybrid role
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily Accounts Payable operations including invoice processing payment requests reconciliations and account analysis.
- Perform complex month-end close activities including Segregation of Duties review and Journal Voucher processing.
- Review and authorize financial transactions such as invoices human subject payments and wire payments.
- Resolve rejected direct deposit payments from banking institutions.
- Partner with the Supplier Maintenance Team to ensure accurate supplier classification and tax withholding compliance.
- Support year-end tax reporting and AP tax filings.
- Investigate and resolve vendor payment issues and accounting inquiries.
- Serve as an AP subject matter expert educating internal stakeholders and suppliers on policies and procedures.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Assist with process improvements and AP projects.
- Conduct data analysis and root cause investigations to improve AP processes.
- Maintain and update AP documentation and procedures.
- Review international wire transactions for authenticity.
- Provide training on AP policies and systems to internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or Business Administration
- Minimum 3 years of experience in financial operations or accounting
- Strong experience in Accounts Payable operations
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP preferred)
- Understanding of accounting principles and AP compliance requirements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with Coupa
- Prior MIT experience
- Experience supporting AP process improvement initiatives
