Job Overview

We are seeking a Drawing Operator II to set up operate and monitor multiwire drawing machines used in the production of copper wire. The role focuses on maintaining efficient production ensuring product quality and following safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multiwire drawing machines to produce copper wire in various sizes.

• Run wire according to specified production orders including correct sizes and lengths.

• Load and unload bobbins and reels including matched sets and lengths.

• Perform pay-off and take-up reel changes.

• Conduct hot and cold welds on feeder stock to maintain continuous production.

• Set up and adjust dies to achieve proper wire reduction.

• Monitor machine controls and measure wire to ensure production quality.

• Maintain and track Work-in-Progress (WIP) tags.

• Inspect wire for defects and troubleshoot breakouts or feeder stock issues.

• Perform gear changes traverse adjustments and annealer settings as required.

• Weigh take-up packages and record production data.

• Coordinate with lift drivers for efficient material handling.

• Dispose of scrap materials in designated bins.

Cross-Training

• Cross-train on equipment within the assigned workgroup.

• Provide coverage for other roles when needed due to absence or operational demands.

• Participate in periodic job rotation to maintain operational proficiency.

Quality Responsibilities

• Follow the companys ISO Quality System procedures.

• Perform routine quality checks and minor equipment maintenance.

• Ensure finished products meet quality standards before release.

• Report quality concerns promptly to supervisors.

Safety Responsibilities

• Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Ensure safe operation of all machinery and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to read write and communicate in English.

• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.

• Ability to work in hot or cold industrial environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

• Previous experience in manufacturing or wire drawing operations.

Physical Requirements

This role involves standing walking lifting climbing kneeling pushing pulling and repetitive motion in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
