The Agency Youll Join:

The NYC Mayors Office of Equity & Racial Justice (MOERJ) was established in October 2023 as the City of New Yorks centralized agency to advance equity. Our mandate is rooted in a simple but powerful belief that every New Yorker deserves the chance to live work and thrive with dignity.

To realize that vision MOERJ brings together several key initiatives and offices including the NYC Commission on Gender Equity (CGE) NYC Her Future (NHF) the NYC Young Mens Initiative (YMI) and the NYC Unity Project (UP) as well as cross-agency bodies like the NYC Pay Equity Cabinet (PEC) and the NYC Taskforce on Racial Inclusion & Equity (TRIE). Together we create a unified framework for addressing the many ways inequity shows up in daily life.

As a critical part of the mayors efforts to build a stronger and healthier city MOERJ works across city agencies and external partners to affect meaningful changes. Every staff member plays an integral role in our unrelenting commitment to equity.

The Problems Youll Solve:

The NYC Mayors Office of Equity & Racial Justice seeks an experienced Senior Communications Director (SCD). Reporting to the Chief Equity Officer & Commissioner will lead the Strategic Communications & Culture (SCC) team elevating understanding and awareness of MOERJ ensuring the agencys mission programs policies and priorities are communicated effectively and leveraging strategic communications promote a culture of equity and inclusion across the city. The SCD is a critical member of the leadership team working across marketing branding creative events communications and programs that reinforce the agency mission. You will also collaborate closely with the team to develop refine and implement engagement strategies and tactics that thoughtfully outline innovative practices. Through attention to detail a proactive spirit and a seasoned lens you will engage in both traditional and non-traditional media communications and engagement strategies across all MOERJ units.

Qualifications :

1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university

2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative analytic coordinative supervisory or liaison responsibilities

3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a states Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question 2 above

4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions 1 2 and/or 3 above
