Senior Legal Counsel Privacy, Digital & AI

Job Purpose

ASSA ABLOY Group is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel with extensive experience of applying the GDPR and strong interest in technology law AI cyber security and digital regulation such as the Data Act Cyber Resilience Act NIS2 AI Act and adjacent areas of law.

You will be part of the Legal Digital Privacy & AI-team within Group Legal advising on and driving the implementation of highimpact digital regulations across the Group. The teams mission is to enable the organization to adopt digital technologies confidently and responsibly while strengthening groupwide digital compliance and legal risk management.

In this role you will act as a trusted legal partner to Group functions and divisions working closely with Information Security Product Compliance IT Commercial and AI stakeholders. You will play a key role in interpreting complex regulatory requirements translating them into clear and actionable guidance and supporting consistent implementation across an international decentralized organization.

About you

You can work independently manage multiple projects and meet deadlines within budget and consistently deliver high-quality work. You have documented experience in applying and advising on legal requirements in privacy and information security and a strong interest in AI cyber security law and technology industry trends.

You have excellent legal and business judgment and a strong understanding of balancing regulatory and commercial risk and opportunity with the ability to assess and communicate risks and trade-offs to different audiences in a clear and actionable way.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise the business within the areas of privacy digital regulation AI cyber security and information security including key digital regulations such as the GDPR Data Act Cyber Resilience Act NIS2 and AI Act and similar regulations in other relevant jurisdictions.
• Support the implementation of legal and policy requirements related to privacy AI cyber security and digital regulation across Group functions and divisions.
• Monitor and assess legal developments in the digital and technology regulatory landscape and proactively advise the business on legal impact and risk.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Groups digital compliance framework promoting consistent and effective governance practices.
• Support group functions in identifying assessing and documenting digital legal risks and governance requirements.
• Work collaboratively in a decentralized international environment to promote awareness best practice sharing and a strong digital compliance culture.
• Develop and deliver legal input to training materials guidance documents templates and presentations related to digital regulation AI cyber security and privacy.
• Support and where appropriate lead crossfunctional projects and adhoc initiatives within the digital and technology legal domain.

General tasks

• Manage and coordinate digital governance-related activities including preparation of reports presentations and templates.
• Support contribute to and deliver training workshops and other awareness-raising initiatives related to digital regulation and technology law. Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Masters degree in law (or equivalent); specialization within Information Technology law and/or CIPP certification is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience from working with and advising on privacy and preferably technology law digital regulation and cyber security from a reputable law firm.
• Experience from an in-house role in an international organization is an advantage.
• Familiarity with international privacy technology and digital regulations and experience navigating complex and sometimes conflicting legal requirements.
• Strong interest in cyber security privacy and technology.
• Strong integrity and ability to stand your ground in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills maintaining attention to detail on multiple projects and adjusting to changing priorities.
• Strong analytical skills and good technical skills
• Can translate legal requirements other legal risks and trade-offs into clear organizational and technical requirements for different audiences.

• Ability to translate complex legal requirements and risk assessments into clear actionable guidance for different audiences including nonlegal stakeholders.

• Strong interest in technology AI cyber security and digital transformation

Other

• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Willingness to undertake limited domestic and international travel.

You will report to the Head Legal for Digital Compliance. This position is placed in Stockholm or Malmö Sweden
