DescriptionJob Purpose
As a live-in member of the residence life hall staff the Village Coordinator (VC) manages the day-to-day operations of a residential area and creates a community that supports student learning development and success.
This role is active from July 2026 - June 2027 with the ability to continue if still enrolled in graduate courses.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and provide guidance education and training to resident assistants
Creates a community that promotes respect and learning
Oversee programming and administrative requirements for resident assistant staff
Accurately maintain all housing administrative records related to students in areas of responsibility including ongoing audit of Health and Safety Inspections
Serve on an on-call duty rotation to address campus issues and emergencies including evenings weekends and holidays
Respond to emergency/critical incidents related to students in the hall per Residence Life emergency procedures
Oversee the overall general upkeep and facility care of the assigned area including regular walk-through tours of the residence hall building to effectively monitor the conditions of the facilities
Work with Facilities Management to follow up on any issues involving residence halls
Assist with recruitment selection training and evaluation of resident assistants
Assist with Office of Residence Life and campus wide programs and functions (e.g. Orientation Marlins Day Hall Opening & Closings)
Assist with student conduct and disciplinary meetings with residents
Attend/host weekly professional staff meetings and weekly student staff meetings
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree is required with extra-curricular activities and student leadership experience
- Must be an enrolled graduate student at Virginia Wesleyan University and be fully enrolled for the duration of the academic year during which the position is held
- Prior Resident Life experience preferred
