Job Summary

CNC Maintenance Mechanic

The CNC Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairing and maintaining production machinery hydraulic components and facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role supports manufacturing operations by troubleshooting repairing and performing preventative maintenance on CNC machines and related equipment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow all established safety procedures including the use of required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses safety shoes and hearing protection.

  • Perform a variety of complex maintenance and repair tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Inspect mechanical devices in operation and listen for unusual sounds to identify causes of malfunction and determine necessary repairs or adjustments.

  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to access and repair defective components.

  • Clean and lubricate machine parts including shafts pulleys gears bearings and other components.

  • Examine parts for wear defects or damage and repair or replace as necessary.

  • Inspect used components to detect wear misalignment or other operational issues.

  • Repair or replace machine components such as belts filters fans and other mechanical parts.

  • Adjust functional parts and control instruments to maintain proper machine operation.

  • Realign and adjust components including spindles clutches feed mechanisms and other mechanical systems.

  • Identify and repair damaged air or hydraulic lines and install new piping as required.

  • Install functional or structural components on machines and equipment.

  • Start and test equipment to verify proper operation and performance.

  • Assemble and test machine tools and related equipment.

  • Initiate or recommend purchase requisitions for parts and equipment when necessary.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components of machinery.

  • Complete required maintenance documentation including work orders and maintenance logs.

  • Report significant equipment issues parts shortages or maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Maintain safe and clean work areas to prevent safety hazards such as spills or grease buildup.

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on machinery according to established schedules.

  • Move and relocate equipment as needed for service or installation.

  • Assist with installation of new machinery using forklifts or machinery moving equipment.

  • Work collaboratively with production and maintenance personnel to support operational goals.

  • Follow all applicable production quality standards and certification requirements.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Formal training apprenticeship or related technical education preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience working with CNC machines such as lathes mills or similar equipment.


Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines operating manuals and maintenance procedures.

  • Strong knowledge of CNC machinery tooling and maintenance practices.

  • Experience using various hand and power tools.

  • Knowledge of mechanical hydraulic pneumatic and electrical repair techniques.

  • Ability to inspect diagnose and repair industrial equipment efficiently.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for the duration of an 810 hour shift.

  • Occasional sitting bending crouching kneeling or reaching.

  • Frequent lifting pushing or pulling up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.

  • Frequent exposure to airborne particles and metalworking fluids.

  • Work environment may be loud; hearing protection is required.

  • Must have strong visual and hearing capabilities to detect machine malfunctions.

  • Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English.
