Job Summary
Make is the leading visual platform for anyone to design build and automate anythingfrom tasks and workflows to apps and systemswithout the need for coding skills. Were looking for a Staff Product Designer to serve as the creative driver for the product. Someone who operates with precision cultural fluency and hands-on craft to shape how our visual product identity comes to life across our most strategic initiatives.
Reporting to the Head of Product Design you will work both independently and in close partnership with the other designers and product teams. This is not a role for incremental polish its for someone who can originate concepts influence direction and raise the standard of execution across the product.
What we are looking for:
- A strong design leader with exceptional craft and visual taste who cares deeply about detail clarity and cohesion
- A point of view on how design evolves in an AI-first product organization
- Proven experience shaping product direction in close partnership with Product and Engineering leadership
- Ability to define and evolve visual systems that scale across complex product surfaces
- Strong systems thinker who can balance long-term platform vision with near-term execution
- Confidence in presenting and defending design decisions to senior stakeholders and executives
- Experience building products that combine structured workflows with more open-ended AI-driven experiences
- A track record of raising the quality bar across interaction design visual design motion and overall product polish
- Ability to move fluidly between strategy concept development and pixel-level refinement
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and helping teams find clarity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- 7 years of experience in product design with several years in a senior or leadership role
What youll do:
- Define and lead the visual product direction across our most strategic initiatives
- Partner closely with the Product Design and Engineering leaders to shape Makes evolution toward AI- and agent-driven experiences
- Raise the standard of craft and execution across the product
- Work directly with a small team of designers through critique concept development and hands-on design work (but this is not a people management role)
- Contribute personally to high-impact projects: from early concept exploration to final polish
- Advocate for quality and user-centric thinking in product planning and roadmap discussions
- Identify opportunities to go beyond incremental improvements and push bold creative direction where it matters most
