We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Industrial Relations Officer to take ownership of day-to-day labour-related matters and support the organisation in maintaining procedural fairness compliance and sound employee relations practices.
This role is responsible for managing disciplinary processes performance and incapacity matters grievance handling and low-level CCMA cases. The successful candidate will ensure that all IR processes are conducted in line with labour legislation and internal policy while escalating high-risk or complex matters appropriately.
This is an execution-focused role suited to someone who is confident in drafting investigating and managing IR processes independently within a governed HR framework.
Key Responsibilities
A. Disciplinary & Misconduct Management
Draft warnings notices to attend hearings and charge sheets
Manage disciplinary processes from initiation to outcome
Conduct investigations and compile supporting documentation
Handle grievance processes and facilitate resolutions
Ensure procedural and substantive fairness throughout all processes
B. Performance & Incapacity Management
Manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)
Facilitate incapacity and capability hearings
Conduct performance counseling sessions
Guide line managers on performance-related processes
Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with labour legislation
C. CCMA & External Labour Matters
Handle low-level CCMA matters
Prepare case documentation and hearing bundles
Coordinate representation and attend proceedings where required
Liaise with external consultants when necessary
Escalate complex or high-risk matters to the HR Consultant
D. Ad-hoc HR Support
Provide support to the HR team as required
Assist with HR documentation and policy implementation
Contribute to maintaining compliance and governance standards

Experience
13 years experience in an Industrial Relations or HR role
Practical exposure to disciplinary processes and performance management
Experience preparing documentation for hearings and CCMA matters
Working knowledge of South African labour legislation (LRA BCEA EEA)
Skills and Competencies

Good investigation and analytical ability
Confident communicator with the ability to manage sensitive matters
Sound understanding of labour legislation
