FACULTY OF KINESIOLOGY: REDS Operations
The University of New Brunswick REDS are the non-academic unit within the Faculty of Kinesiology. Through athletics and recreation programming they strive to be national leaders in wellness sport and recreation excellence. The REDS also lead many internal and external general events across various facilities in hopes of being engaged within our community.
WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time 1-Year Term (Leave Replacement) Fredericton On-Campus
Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm 40 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasion travel required (when athletic events are hosted off-site/in other cities).
- Heavy lifting setup and moving of specific sports equipment which may have significant weight with support from other operations staff.
Salary Range: $25.29 per hour
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Director REDS Operations (AROW) the Facilities & Events Supervisor is responsible for the effective operation of REDS service facilities that include gymnasiums fields classrooms studios storage areas service spaces and other areas as well as the planning and supervision of events in these facilities. This position oversees many student and part-time staff.
- Supervise facilities operated by the REDS.
- Inspect facilities and surrounding property throughout the day.
- Prepare daily reports for the Director and Assistant Director Operations.
- Assist in the development of facility policies and procedures.
- Ensure all requirements listed on the daily checklist are completed.
- Liaise with coaches facilities users and service providers.
- Set up take down and maintain sporting equipment.
- Provide high-quality customer service to all facility users.
- Ensure staff and facility users follow all policies and know risk management and emergency response procedures.
- Supervise REDS Games.
- Hire recruit coordinate schedule train and supervise part-time staff for athletic events at the Aitken Centre Currie Center BMO Centre and College Field with the support of operations staff.
- Track inventory for games and athletic competitions to ensure these events will be executed as required and planned.
- Performs related duties as required.
WHAT YOU BRING
- An undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or Recreation Management or related field.
- 2 years of experience in a related field.
- An equivalent amount of experience and education may be considered.
Additional Strengths
- Experience with various stakeholders exposure to inventory and supervision of staff and computerized systems and game operations across multiple sports at the university level is considered a strong asset.
- Previous supervisory experience is considered an asset.
- First aid training is considered an asset.
- Able to operate and maintain sporting equipment and tools.
- Experience conducting inventory control cash management.
- Familiarity with the rules and procedures followed in various sports at the university level.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Maintaining a positive outgoing attitude with a genuine customer service orientation.
