Summary:

The R&D Technical Intern will work cooperatively with the Corporate Research & Development Department to develop new or improved film products for specific end use applications such as food packaging labels and industrial applications. Individual will work on improving the understanding of the interaction and correlations of film properties design and productivity as they relate to specific applications. Candidates will receive on the job training at Toray on our company our customers our products and downstream applications of our products.

Duties:

  • Assist in the development of new packaging or industrial films (OPP and PET)
  • Assist with development trials at TPA and customers
  • Perform functional measurements on film samples using automated testing equipment
  • Evaluate customer film properties on equipment such as vertical form fill & seal bag makers heat seal fixtures weatherometer etc.
  • Create periodic reports on progress of project and present to department
  • Candidates will have an opportunity to present to senior management the experience and knowledge gained from the internship
  • Specific planned projects will be discussed during the interview process

Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will be a Chemical or Mechanical engineering OR Chemistry student in his/her/their junior or senior year
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with manipulating data
  • Must be proficient in MS Office: Word Excel PowerPoint
  • Experience with statistical analysis preferred
  • Fundamental knowledge of material science preferred
  • Ability to report in a clear and concise fashion
  • Must have a strong work ethic and be highly self-motivated

Length of Employment:

  • The internship is a full-time forty hours per week position
  • Internship will begin on May 26th and end on Friday August 21th

Compensation:

  • This is a paid internship; the compensation is $20.00/hour
