Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Manager of Health Services the incumbent is responsible for:

  • Coordination of care related to specialized breastfeeding support for the Womens Program to include:
    • providing quality care;
    • acting as a resource to other health care professionals;
    • participating in the discharge process;
    • educating patients family staff and students with respect to breastfeeding; and
    • performing other related duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Minimum three years recent clinical experience in maternal or newborn nursing.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing required. BN preferred.

Special Training:

  • Successful completion of certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Shared Health policy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the essential physical requirements of the position.
  • Moderate physical effort required.
