Post-Graduate Nurse Practitioner Primary Care Residency Program

Program Overview

Brockton Neighborhood Health Center (BNHC) is proud to introduce its PostGraduate Nurse Practitioner (NP) Primary Care Residency Program launching in Fall 2026. This grantfunded fulltime residency was created in recognition of the growing complexity of primary care and the essential role Nurse Practitioners play in closing the primary care provider gap.

Designed for newly graduated Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs) and AdultGerontology Nurse Practitioners (AGNPs) this program provides a structured supportive transition from graduate education to independent clinical practice.

Program Structure

• Twelve (12) months of fulltime paid postgraduate residency training
• Twelve (12) additional months of fulltime service employment at BNHC
• Salary and benefits provided in accordance with organizational policy and grant requirements
• Structured clinical mentorship and supervised primary care practice
• Opportunity for permanent employment as a Staff Nurse Practitioner
• Eligibility for loan forgiveness programs where applicable

Participation in the full twoyear employment commitment is a condition of program eligibility.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered:

• Commitment to two (2) years of fulltime employment including the residency year and the required service obligation
• Graduation from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or AdultGerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) program by May 2026 including completion of all required clinical training
• U.S. citizenship permanent residency or other noncitizen status permitting permanent employment authorization in the United States
  • Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible
• Ability to successfully complete credentialing and privileging requirements prior to the start of clinical practice
• Willingness to comply with all grant requirements including the collection and reporting of demographic and programrelated data as required by the funding source

All applicants must submit the following materials as part of a complete application. Incomplete applications may not be considered.

1. Letter of Recommendation

Applicants must provide two (2) letters of recommendation from a graduate program professor graduate clinical preceptor or Registered Nurse employer.

The letter must clearly address:

• The professional capacity in which the recommender worked with the applicant
• The applicants clinical competence and critical thinking skills
• Professionalism reliability and readiness for independent Nurse Practitioner practice

2. Written Essay (500 Words Maximum)

Applicants must submit two (2) written essays not to exceed 500 words total typed in 12point font addressing the following prompts:

• Service to Underserved or Diverse Populations
  Reflect on an experience working with an underserved and/or diverse population and describe how this experience has prepared you to practice at Brockton Neighborhood Health Center.
• Clinical Reasoning and Complex Patient Care
  Describe a complex patient you have managed. Discuss your clinical reasoning including assessment decisionmaking and management considerations.
