The Role
As our new Assistant Womenswear Denim Designer youll be the creative heart of our denim range turning the latest global trends into must-have pieces our customers will love. This isnt just about sketching; its about setting the direction for everything from our core essentials to exciting project collections. Youll work at pace translating high-level briefs into commercial budget-friendly designs that dont compromise on style

Our Designers here at Next are always looking forward. Looking for that Next thing focusing on trend and pushing the boundaries of what we can offer our fantastic customer base. Working as a key part of the critical path; creating new and innovative designs across womenswear denim.

What Youll Take On

Lead the Creative Vision: Youll set the design direction for the womenswear denim range identifying key trends in colour shape and fabric to keep our collections ahead of the curve.

Design with Agility: From core staples to special project collections youll respond rapidly to design briefs turning fresh ideas into customer-ready products at high street speed.

Balance Style and Value: Youll use your commercial eye to ensure every piece is both aspirational and budget-friendly delivering cool fashion that makes sense for our customers.

Collaborate to Deliver: Youll work hand-in-hand with our Buyers Merchandisers and Tech teams daily ensuring every design is technically sound and arrives in-store exactly when it should.

Own the Process: Youll manage the journey of a garment from the initial mood board to the final product ensuring our denim range remains a consistent favourite for the Next shopper.

A Passion for Denim: You have a genuine love for the fabric and a sharp eye for detail from the perfect indigo wash to the subtle placement of a rivet.

Creative Agility: Youre a natural at spotting trends and can quickly translate a big idea into a practical wearable design that fits theNext aesthetic.

The Ability to Juggle: Youre well-organised and stay calm when things get busy comfortably managing multiple deadlines and project ranges at once.

A Collaborative Spirit: Youre a people person who communicates clearly and enjoys working alongside buyers and tech teams to solve problems and get results.

Commercial Savvy: You understand the balance between high-end inspiration and high-street reality keeping an eye on costs without losing the cool factor.

Technical Foundations: You bring relevant design experience (or a degree in a related field) and are comfortable using the tools of the trade to bring your sketches to life.
