Primary Function of Position:
The Hospital Funding Manager leads the development and execution of health-economic strategies to support capital investment in Robotic-Assisted Surgery (RAS) technology. The role involves identifying and evaluating public and private funding sources at regional national EU and foundation levels and translating these opportunities into compelling investment cases for hospital leadership.
The position prepares and presents robust business cases to hospital C-suites providing strategic guidance on economic sustainability CAPEX planning and return on investment (ROI) for RAS programs. Acting as a key liaison between executive leadership procurement and clinical departments the Hospital Funding Manager delivers tailored consultancy and ensures alignment between financial strategy clinical priorities and operational goals.
Through close cross-functional collaboration the role supports the successful sustainable implementation of robotic surgery programs and contributes to long-term institutional and clinical value.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Map screen and evaluate public and private funding sources (regional national EU and foundation-based) relevant to CAPEX investments in Robotic-Assisted Surgery (RAS).
- Prepare executive dossiers and investment decision briefs for C-level hospital leaders.
- Provide CAPEX investment planning and ROI guidance to support RAS program initiation or expansion.
- Translate health-economic and clinical evidence into funding-relevant value arguments for CFOs procurement and medical leadership.
- Analyze hospital financial structures budgets and strategic needs in light of the German hospital reform to guide optimal investment timing and resource positioning.
- Deliver tailored medico-economic consultancy demonstrating the long-term sustainability efficiency and value of RAS adoption.
- Present and defend funding and investment recommendations as well as medico-economic business cases to C-level audiences with clarity confidence and credibility.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Tender Global Access Value and Economics (GAVE) Governmental Affairs (GOA) and European Data & Analytics and Partnerships (D&A) to ensure strategic alignment of funding approach and consistency in messaging.
- Develop consultancy talk tracks and tools to support funding and medico-economic reasoning for RAS applying knowledge of hospital cost structures DRG reimbursement implications and potential cases eligible to Intuitives technologies to inform Hospital stakeholder about reliable funding justification.
- Apply structured analytics and multiple data sources (e.g. market and hospital data) to strengthen ROI efficiency and sustainability arguments.
- Engage externally with funding authorities scientific and medical device associations foundations and policymakers in collaboration with GAVE and GOA to clarify eligibility criteria and funding pathways.
Qualifications :
Required Knowledge Skills and Experience:
- Minimum Bachelors degree preferably in Hospital Management Healthcare Economics Business Economics or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant professional experience in hospital or health economics hospital financial or medical controlling hospital strategy consulting or hospital business development.
- Proven expertise in hospital funding applications for CAPEX in Germany.
- Solid knowledge of hospital financing structures investment frameworks and tender regulations in Germany; experience in Austria and/or Switzerland is considered an advantage.
- Proven experience working with and influencing hospital stakeholders including executive leadership finance procurement and clinical departments.
- Understanding of clinical pathways inpatient care processes and robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) technologies.
- Presentation storytelling and data visualization skills as well as excellent analytical project management and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Fluency in German and English (written and spoken).
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% as required.
