The Alberta Health & Safety Manager is responsible for leading the Regional Safety team to a Best in Class Standard. Effectively managing safe work in accordance to local regulations and Chandos Safe work procedures.
Lead Coach and Manage direct reports in an assigned area or district of responsibility
- Communicate and interact with provincial and federal agencies requiring deliverable reporting including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Emergency Services
- Develop and execute effective relevant procedures to further enhance the program
- Implement change as based on leading indicators and statistical metrics
- Develop a sound company safety culture working with all levels and departments of Chandos
- Applies expertise to assess risk and solve problems of varying construction tasks
- Participates in project start up meetings and understands the scope of work on projects
- Provides guidance and oversight on incident investigations and potentially severe near misses
Qualifications :
- 7 years of commercial and industrial construction experience
- Minimum 10 years of field HSE experience (construction or industrial preferred; broader HSE experience considered)
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation preferred or an asset and/or National Construction Safety Officer Designation
- Occupational Health and Safety Degree of Diploma
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
- A bachelors degree in science engineering or a related discipline an asset but not required
- Strong attention to detail a positive attitude and alignment with Chandos core values.
- Strong collaboration change leadership and analytical abilities
- A Red Seal Journeyperson certificate an asset
- Demonstrated Leadership abilities with 5 years in a Safety Management role
- Possess a thorough understanding of Third Party pre-quals including IsNet Avetta Contractor Check
- Travel is required throughout the Alberta region
