Reporting into Senior Manager of Software Engineering you will play a meaningful role in powering one of Xplors core products - our Office (Admin) platform which supports critical business workflows for customers across Australia. This is a full-stack engineering role sitting within an established collaborative team spread across Australia and India. Youll work alongside senior engineers product managers and cross-functional feature groups to build and improve systems that genuinely matter contributing to both a modern Laravel/Vue stack and the ongoing modernisation of legacy systems.

What youll be doing:

As a key member of the engineering team youll be hands-on across the full stack from day one. Your day-to-day will include:

• Developing maintaining and enhancing backend systems using PHP and Laravel alongside frontend features built in
• Contributing across both the modern Laravel/Vue stack and the existing CodeIgniter system as part of an active ongoing modernisation effort
• Managing deployments directly via AWS this team owns its own deployments so youll be hands-on with ECS Lambda SQS and pipelines.
• Collaborating with senior engineers QA and product teams through structured feature groups to refine requirements and deliver production-ready work.
• Participating actively in code reviews upholding code quality and aligning your work with existing architecture patterns
• Taking time to deeply understand existing systems and architecture before gradually growing your influence on technical decision-making
• Working effectively across time zones as part of a distributed team spanning Australia and India.

Location: Remote within Australia with a preference for Melbourne-based candidates and full Australian working rights.

Youll need:

• 35 years of hands-on PHP development experience with strong Laravel framework knowledge
• Solid experience with - React experience will be considered
• Strong MySQL skills including the ability to write and optimise efficient queries
• Experience with Docker and containerised development environments
• Practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
• Working knowledge of AWS fundamentals. You dont need to be a cloud expert but you should be comfortable navigating core services such as ECS Lambda SQS and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with CodeIgniter or other legacy PHP frameworks
• Comfortable working in a distributed team environment across time zones

It would be great if you also have:

• Experience contributing to system modernisation or migration projects
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and structured feature delivery
• A collaborative curious mindset - someone who reads the codebase before rewriting it.
