Minuteman High School is seeking a qualified ELL Assistant for the school year. This is a stipend position with responsibilities and compensation detailed below.
Major Responsibilities:- Assessing and providing newly identified LEP students with an ELD level if it is blank with the school based WIDA MODEL Kit.
- Complete all screenings of identified students.
- Recommend updated ELD levels or program codes for ELLS whose status has changed.
- Help facilitate meetings with teachers administrators and parents regarding the implementation of ELL services.
- Provide guidance to school leadership in regards to ESL/SEI scheduling.
- Plan attend and help evaluate students during ELD update and FLEP reclassification meetings.
- Act as the point person for ACCESS Testing with the state. Facilitate all aspects of ACCESS testing as required by law.
- Collaborate with other teachers in examining assessment data to inform ELL student instruction.
- Serve as the point of contact between DESE and the District.
- Create and update of the English Language Development (ELD) folders. (Please refer to the ELD checklist for a complete list of required documents).
- Monitor the English language progress of FLEP students in general education classes.
- Complete all Compliance reviews at both the state and federal level.
Qualifications:- Self-motivated; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing in person through email and on the telephone.
- ESL Certification or SEI Endorsement.
- Teaching experience as an ESL teacher or an SEI/TBE/Dual Language/SLIFE teacher.
- Demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of the DOJ Settlement Agreement with PS Massachusetts 71A and other federal state and district policies that govern expected services for ELLs in K12 public education.
Additional Requirements:- This position includes but is not limited to: interacting with the public walking around the school standing for periods occasionally lifting and carrying items reading documents using a computer listening and speaking using office equipment maintaining energy throughout the day and handling stress effectively.
Terms of Employment:Effective Dates of Employment:- This is a stipend position for the 2026-2027 school year.
- The person who fills this position will be the contact for any relevant and important information prior to the start of the school year.
Supervisor:Compensation:- The total annual stipend for this position is $1948.
