Ochsner Childrens Hospital is seeking a BC/BE CLINICAL GENETICIST to join our Section of Medical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics in New Orleans. The successful candidate will work closely with our second geneticist 3 genetic counselors with more in recruitment and an experienced group of nurses. Expertise in the evaluation diagnosis and ongoing care of patients with a variety of genetic disorders including congenital anomalies congenital heart disease chromosomal disorders autism mitochondrial disease and cancer is desired. The section also offers prenatal genetic counseling as well as newborn screening. Key responsibilities of this position include:

Clinical Care

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient consultative care for children with known or suspected genetic conditions.

  • Partner with medical and surgical colleagues to serve children with complex conditions in multidisciplinary programs.

Teaching and Research

  • Teach medical students residents and allied health students.

  • Clinical and translational research opportunities abound for qualified candidates.

  • Academic appointment commensurate with experience.

Leadership and Program Development

  • Collaborate with institutional stakeholders to drive Pediatric Precision Medicine initiatives as part of Ochsners commitment to being the regional leader in genomics and precision medicine.

More than 85 primary care pediatriciansand 290 subspecialistsacross 27 locations in Louisiana and Mississippi.

The regions leader in complex pediatric care with advanced programs in:

o Congenital heart surgery and cardiac transplantation

o Liver and bone marrow transplantation

o Hematology-Oncology and AYA Oncology

o Advanced GI and Hepatology

o A comprehensive surgical subspecialty group including craniofacial and advanced spine surgery

o The Gulf Souths only comprehensive developmental pediatrics center

67-bed Level IV NICU

14-bed PICUand 12-bed CVICU

4-bed NAEC-accredited Level IV Pediatric EMU

44-bed Pediatric Acute Care Unitwith a dedicated Pediatric ED

24/7 neonatal and pediatric transport teamwith ground rotary and fixed-wing aircraft support

Future growth:construction underway for a new 5-story Childrens Hospital opening in late 2027/early 2028 and planned expansion of neonatal services

Education & Research

ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program plus the Ochsner Pediatric Residency Program.

Teaching opportunities with medical students from Tulane Universityand the University of Queensland.

Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine(currently in LCME accreditation).
