Job Summary
A highly popular and over-subscribed secondary school in the Taunton area is seeking an ambitious and experienced Head of Design & Technology to lead its successful department from April.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a key middle leadership role within a school known for strong academic outcomes excellent behaviour and high community demand.
The Role
As Head of Design & Technology you will lead the strategic development of DT across KS3 & KS4 with potential KS5 provision depending on specialism (e.g. Product Design Resistant Materials Engineering).
Your responsibilities will include:
Shaping and driving the vision for Design & Technology across the school
Leading curriculum planning assessment and quality assurance
Monitoring student progress and implementing strategies to raise attainment
Line managing and mentoring departmental staff
Overseeing health & safety within workshops and practical environments
Promoting enrichment opportunities such as competitions STEM initiatives and exhibitions
You will maintain a teaching timetable and model high-quality practical classroom practice.

The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher with QTS (or equivalent)
Strong subject knowledge within Design & Technology
Experience teaching to KS4 (KS5 desirable)
Proven leadership experience or readiness to step into a Head of Department role
Commitment to high standards safety and curriculum innovation
