How you will contribute
1. Employee Relations Case Management:
Lead and manage a diverse range of complex employee relations cases including:
o Disciplinary & Grievance
o Absence Management
o Capability & Performance Management
o Redundancy
o TUPE and organisational change initiatives (providing expert ER input into restructures reorganisations and business transformation projects).
Ensure all cases are managed diligently in strict adherence to UK employment law internal company policy and ACAS guidance.
Provide comprehensive support on complex high-risk cases at all organisational levels.
Collaborate with Global and MEU Compliance Directors and Leads on managing UK Compliance cases and occasionally support on global and regional non-UK cases.
2. Employment Tribunal & Litigation Support:
Partner with external Legal Counsel to lead the preparation and coordination of cases for Employment Tribunals and early conciliation processes.
Manage all pre-tribunal activities including:
o Responding to ACAS Early Conciliation requests.
o Conducting initial case assessments and risk analyses (in conjunction with external legal counsel).
o Evaluating cost reputational and settlement considerations.
o Collating reviewing and organising tribunal bundles ensuring robust audit trails accuracy confidentiality and compliance with all deadlines.
Support managers and witnesses throughout the tribunal process by:
o Preparing witnesses for hearings.
o Briefing leaders on case strategy.
o Attending hearings and preliminary hearings as required.
Manage relationships with external solicitors and barristers including instruction fee control and case updates.
Advise on and support settlement agreements including COT3 and settlement agreements.
Capture and disseminate key learnings from tribunal outcomes to enhance future strategies.
3. Advisory Support
Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and the People Team on all Employee Relations matters.
Provide pragmatic risk-based advice that balances legal obligations commercial imperatives and cultural considerations.
Coach and develop managers to build their confidence and capability in handling people issues early and effectively.
4. Trade Union Engagement:
Foster and maintain constructive relationships with trade union representatives.
Support consultation processes including collective consultation where required.
5. Policy Development:
Develop review and maintain relevant HR policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practice.
Provide expert interpretation of policies to managers and employees ensuring consistent understanding and application.
What you will bring
A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career. You will bring experience and knowledge in:
CIPD Level 5 or 7 qualified (or equivalent demonstrable experience) and strong working knowledge of UK Employment Law is essential.
Significant hands on experience managing ER cases independently in an Employee Relations HR Advisor or HR Business Partner role.
Proven track record of managing complex ER cases end-to-end.
Experience responding to or preparing documents for ACAS or tribunal matters.
Excellent influencing negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Strong investigation and report-writing capabilities.
Ability to effectively balance legal risk with commercial pragmatism.
Experience operating within unionised environments.
Demonstrable experience in supporting organisational change programmes.
