Job Summary

  • Research intensive role in electrochemical sensor development for agricultural applications.
  • Design prototype and validate fieldready chemical sensors in close collaboration with industry partners.
  • Part-time (0.8 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis until December 2026.
  • Base salary range: Level C $144143 $165809 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the opportunity

  • Lead independent research and development of electrochemical sensors for agricultural field applications building on outcomes from the NSCICfunded project and contributing at a national level.
  • Design refine and optimise chemical sensor technologies applying expertise in chemical processes formulation prototyping and fieldready validation under diverse conditions.
  • Collaborate across research and industry stakeholders operating with a high degree of autonomy while ensuring clear communication rigorous documentation and reporting to the academic supervisor and industry partner.

About you

  • PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to their discipline.
  • Proven nationallevel research excellence demonstrated through a strong publication record in highquality peerreviewed journals and success in competitive research funding.
  • Demonstrated leadership in research training including successful supervision of HDR students.
  • Handson technical expertise in chemical engineering and electrochemical sensor development with a clear understanding of their application and value in the agricultural sector.
  • Strong team collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
