The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the architecture performance reliability and strategic direction of a hybrid database environment supporting business-critical financial systems including Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) risk systems and front-office applications.
Operating within a 24/7 staff augmentation model this role provides technical leadership across Microsoft SQL Server (primary) Oracle (OCI) and Azure database platforms. The Senior DBA serves as an escalation point for complex incidents leads proactive optimization initiatives and supports cloud migration strategies aligned with enterprise data centre exit goals.
o Lead administration of Microsoft SQL Server environments across Production UAT and Dev.
o Provide architectural oversight for hybrid database deployments (On-Prem Azure OCI).
o Serve as Tier 3 escalation point for high-severity incidents.
o Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action planning.
o Collaborate with business leaders to help deliver technical (database) roadmaps to support overall business goals.
o Proactively analyze and optimize database performance.
o Partner with development teams to tune complex queries and improve application efficiency.
o Identify systemic performance risks before business impact.
o Oversee capacity planning and database growth forecasting.
o Design and maintain HA/DR solutions (AlwaysOn clustering replication).
o Ensure 24/7 operational readiness and SLA compliance.
o Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing exercises.
o Maintain trees escalation and critical response procedures.
o Support migration of on-prem EDW and risk database to Azure.
o Provide technical input into data center exit strategy.
o Advice on modernization of legacy database workloads.
o Support Oracle database hosted in OCI and coordinate with third-party vendors when applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS 7 years of enterprise database administration experience. Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016 preferred). Strong experience with: o AlwaysOn Availability Groups o Clustering & replication o Backup/recovery strategies o Performance tuning & indexing strategies Experience managing Azure SQL environments. Experience supporting hybrid cloud architecture. Proven experience in 24/7 high-availability environments. Strong working knowledge of structured ITSM processes (Jira ITIL frameworks).
