Position Summary & Highlights:
This position will support patientreferrals for clinical and insurance qualificationsfortheMetabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program thatis required tomaintainthe bariatricprogramaccreditation.
The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery program helps our patients achieve lasting weight loss and improved health even curing long standing obesity-related medical problems like diabetes high blood pressure highcholesteroland sleep apnea in many patients. Our program is focused on helpingour patientsachievetheirgoals through a comprehensive approach thatincludes:multi-disciplinary dietary counseling and education age and healthappropriate exerciseand precision robotic surgery.
At Saint Alphonsus our Metabolic and Bariatric Center is an accredited Comprehensive Center by the American College of Surgeons. This meansour patientscan confidently placetheirtrust in our team of experts to achieveexcellent surgical weight loss outcomesforour patientsby following comprehensive safety standards and protocols. What Will You Do:
Receiveand confirm insurance related information and coverage from patient referrals for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery program.
Determinenecessityfor pre-authorization andobtainauthorization for scheduled procedures.
Enter patient insurance information into the patient record (Epic) and document insurance coverage of services to be provided.
Notifypatientof his/herfinancial responsibilityfor services to be provided. Notify patients and practitioners of any services requested and/or referred that are not authorized by insurance.
Communicates with patients and practitionersregardingfinancial responsibilityand insurance coverage issues.
May work with projects that are insurance and prior authorization related.
An ideal candidate will have:
Healthcare front deskexperienceincluding outpatient clinic registration or billing and coding experience;
Experienceworkingwith different insurance companies surgeons/physicians andotheroutpatient clinic staff;
Strongwritten and verbalcommunicationskills;
Solidcritical thinking skills decisivejudgmentand the ability to work with minimal supervision;
You will also be personable positive and have acheerfulattitude.
Work Schedule:
40 hoursper week Mondays - Fridays7:30am 4:00pm.
There may be some flexibility with this schedule.
