The Role
As Executive Director of Communication you will play a pivotal role in shaping Health PEIs brand and reputation managing sensitive health messaging and driving communicationsinitiatives that promote trust with partners and the public. You will foster a collaborative and innovative environment champion best practices and ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of services. This role sits at the heart of a unified One Island Health System where success is Directors work beyond traditional boundaries lead crossfunctional teams and operationalize organizationwide priorities that improve health outcomes service quality and system Executive Director is accountable for the development implementation and evaluation of programs and services aligned to Health PEIs mission and strategic will bring stability and claritybridging traditional communications with marketingdriven storytelling aligning messaging with government priorities and strengthening internal processes. You thrive in fastmoving environments think on your feet and deliver clear strategyevenin the midst ofa crisis.
Key Areas of Leadership and Oversight
- Strategic Communication: Develop and execute multichannel strategies aligned with Health PEIs vision priorities and accountability frameworks.
- Public Relations & Issues Management: Lead media relations proactive reputation management and crisis communications with transparency and speed.
- Government & Stakeholder Liaison:Maintaintrusted partnershipsincludingwithGovernment partnerslikethe Department of Health and Wellness.
- BrandManagement: Build and unify a onehealthauthority brand.
- Policy Standards & Governance: Oversee communication policies guidelines and ethical standards; ensure compliance and alignment with systemwide governance.
- Operational Excellence:Strengthen onboarding workflows and tools to improve division performance and responsiveness.
- Team Leadership:Manage and mentor a growingteambysettingclear roles fosteringcollaboration and buildinga culture of excellence.
The ideal candidate
You are a visionary communicator and seasoned operator who excels in complex multisite environments. You combine strategic insight with handson leadership and have a deep understanding of the sensitivities complexities and risks of health communicationideally gained in healthcare or the public sector. You build trust navigate ambiguity resolve conflict and consistently deliver results in highstakes contexts.
Qualifications and Experience:
While the Search Committee recognizes that no one candidate is likely to meet all qualifications in equal measure those listed below are desirable and will be used to compare candidates.
- Bachelors degree in communication healthcare administration business or related field (masters preferred).
- Extensive senior leadership experience in public or healthcare systems.
- Proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar budgets and large teams.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and best practices.
- Experiencerepresentingorganizations in media and legislative settings.
Skills and Attributes
- Strategic systems thinker with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactivecommunicationsleader with strong decisionmaking stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution abilities.
- Skilled in media relations issues/crisis management and governmentliaising.
- Adept at leading crossfunctional teams and advancing organizationwide initiatives.
Salary Range:$70.03 $86.72per hour (Level 29)
Hours:75 hours bi-weekly (MondayFriday)
