SECURITIES TRADER

Job Overview

A leading financial services firm within Ghanas capital markets industry licensed and regulated by the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is seeking a highly driven and analytical Sales Trader to join its front-office team. The Sales Trader will be responsible for executing securities transactions on behalf of private corporate and institutional clients as well as managing proprietary trading activities to drive profitability and market share growth. The role requires a deep understanding of capital markets strong execution capabilities and the ability to convert market intelligence into profitable trading strategies. The successful candidate will be expected to actively monitor market movements analyse macroeconomic trends identify emerging investment opportunities and provide strategic trade ideas to internal stakeholders and addition to trade execution the role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with clients regulators portfolio managers and other market participants to strengthen the firms competitive position and expand its investor base.

• Buy and sell securities on behalf of private corporate and institutional clients and proprietary trading
  
• accounts.
  
• Devise strategies to execute trades at prices better than the target price.
  
• Ensure that trades are executed according to the rules of the Ghana Stock Exchange and universal
  
• market integrity rules.
  
• Provide advice on the trading activities of the company to internal key stakeholders (as required).
  
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key market players including regulators other
  
• brokerage firms portfolio managers and prospective investors in order to avail the firm of the
  
• synergies from such relationships.
  
• Maintain professional relationships by interacting with other brokers portfolio managers agent
  
• banks etcetera so as to be informed quickly of developing events that may affect the market.
  
• Keep abreast of business opportunities and devise strategies to convert them into viable and
  
• profitable ventures.
  
• Participate in the development and implementation of a framework to ensure continuous analysis
  
• of the market.
  
• Prepare daily report on trading (snapshot of market activities).
  
• Monitor macroeconomic and other environmental trends that may affect the value of investment
  
• portfolios.
  
• Identify and engage with prospective clients to grow existing client base.
  
• Improve levels of service to staff and customers
  
• Comply with company policies regulations and rules
  
• Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients
  
• Maintain suitable and adequate documentation of all work performed
  
• Ad-hoc projects as may be required from management from time to time
  

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Finance Business Administration Marketing or related fields; MBA(preferred but not required)
  
• Successful completion of the GISI GSE certification courses or any other courses specified by the Securities and Exchange Commission
  
• Must be a Registered Securities Dealer with the Ghana Stock Exchange
  
• Three (3) or more years of proven experience in securities trading and financial services
  
• Strong working knowledge of the capital markets equities fixed incomederivatives commodities and currency
  
• Ability to disseminate investment research and trade ideas
  
• Understanding of financial analysis and valuation
  
• Intuitive understanding of macroeconomic theory monetary and fiscal policy and their respective impact on markets
  
• Solid quantitative and analytical skills
  
• Excellent communication negotiation and presentation skills are required
  
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of the company and clients information
  
• High sense of responsibility accountability and dependability.
