Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards the Conduct Coordinator of Student Conduct & Community Standards assists in administering the student conduct process by holding educational meetings with students alleged to have violated college policy. The Coordinator of Student Conduct & Community Standards will create cases review incident reports and serve as a hearing officer for assigned conduct cases including cases that could result in suspension or expulsion. The Coordinator of Student Conduct & Community Standards will facilitate recruitment and training for Conduct Board members for both student conduct and Title IX cases work closely with the Title IX office as a Title IX hearing chair and coordinate sexual misconduct prevention and response education efforts on campus. A successful candidate will work closely with Title IX as Title IX hearing chair and be responsible for sexual misconduct prevention and response for sexual misconduct prevention and response education efforts on campus. The Conduct Coordinator will collaborate with Area Coordinator staff to support students living in the residence halls and apartments and participate in the on-call rotation to respond to crisis situations. This position serves within the Department of Residential Life and Student Conduct & Community Standards and while primarily focused on student conduct functions is expected to participate in residential life initiatives and cross-departmental collaboration to advance the strategic vision and mission of the integrated department.

Supervision:

This position reports to the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards who reports to the Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct & Community Standards. This position provides mentorship and coordination to Conduct Board members and student workers assisting in the conduct process.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Participate in on-call rotation alongside Area Coordinators for 4500 residential students on a scheduled basis. Work with Resident Assistants Facilities Public Safety Counseling Center and Management Team to respond to crisis situations in accordance with departmental and institutional emergency procedures.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards with the administration of the Student Conduct Process.
  • Serve as a resource for students parents and advisors navigating the conduct process. Refer students to other campus support resources when indicated.
  • Coordinate the creation review and management of conduct cases and correspondence to include details of charges and sanctions. Directly enter Public Safety and other miscellaneous cases into the conduct management system.
  • Oversee the recruitment and training of Conduct Board Members for both the student conduct and Title IX adjudication processes.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development to Conduct Board members and student leaders/student workers assisting or involved in the conduct process.
  • Serve as a campus contact for Maxient concerns/user management when the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards is unavailable.
  • Utilize department software systems including conduct case management (Maxient) and housing information systems (Starrez/Mercury) to help manage reponsibilities while on call or navigating emergencies. Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA and institutional policies.
  • Oversee website content management for the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards website ensuring information policies and procedures are current and accessible to students families and staff.
  • Provide operational input to the Associate Director on Student Conduct Code revisions and conduct procedures based on case trends and best practices.
  • Review schedule and adjudicate student conduct cases in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Student Conduct Code.
  • Create and assign conduct cases to other hearing officers in consultation with the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards.
  • Serve as a hearing officer for conduct meetings and hearings as assigned.
  • Serve as a Chair for Title IX cases as assigned by the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards or their designee.
  • Coordinate all administrative aspects of the Alcohol Education and Cannabis Education programs. Work with the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards and the Office of Health Promotion to coordinate the BASICS program. Complete billing for any associated fees related to alcohol or other drug programs.
  • Maintain student records and prepare conduct record checks for several campus offices for students applying for various College sponsored programs and activities outside employment study abroad applications as well as for external sources such as graduate schools Federal Bureau of Investigation and other government and community agencies.
  • Maintain files for all conduct incidents for the previous seven years in compliance with Cleary requirements as well as permanent records for students who have been suspended or expelled.
  • Coordinate and maintain the tracking of sanction completion including communication with students assigning holds and overseeing student withdrawals as it pertains to overdue sanctions and cases. Communicate with the conduct hearing officers to verify status of projects and sanctions.
  • Develop and deliver prevention-based programming on campus including programming specific to sexual misconduct prevention and response.
  • Collaborate with the Title IX Coordinator and Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards to develop present and track prevention efforts related to sexual misconduct.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards with creating and presenting Student Conduct trainings to members of the campus community.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards with conduct case oversight and system management.
  • Respond in person to situations requiring immediate decision-making including interim removals emergency housing removals and coordination with law enforcement and emergency services; providing administrative support to the Dean of Students by handling after-hours emergency conduct decision letters that cannot wait until regular business hours.
  • Develop promote and contribute to cultivating an inclusive diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate a commitment to department and college values and communicate to employees an expectation of behavior that promotes belonging when interacting with all staff faculty students and visitors. Foster a flexible collaborative and inclusive working and living environment.
  • Maintain visible and accessible presence in residential communities as needed. Collaborate with Residential Life staff to integrate conduct education workshops trainings and prevention programming into residential learning communities.
  • Provide support to Area Coordinators and Resident Assistants during residential emergencies and crisis situations. Step in to provide administrative authority and decision-making during Area Coordinator vacancies or high-volume crisis periods.
  • Participate on office department divisional and college-wide committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree and a minimum of 3 years previous student affairs experience. Knowledge of FERPA Title IX the Clery Act and other relevant federal/state regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Student Conduct case management and adjudication.

Masters degree in Law Higher Education Administration Counseling or Psychology or related field.

Experience with case management software such as Maxient.

Work Environment:

Most of the work of the incumbent is carried out within a generally accessible safe indoor office environment. The incumbent will be required to operate a personal computer and associated equipment such as computer printers as well as other office equipment used in day-to-day operations. The incumbent will be required to live in assigned residence hall/apartment 12 months per year. The incumbent will have on-call duty responsibilities and will be required to respond to emergencies and other situations during and after normal business hours. The incumbent will also be required to work some evenings and weekends.
