Job Summary

License/Certification/Registration:
*Active RN on Minnesota Board of Nursing required
*Current BLS required

Education:
*Bachelors degree in nursing required

Experience:
*3 years of people leadership experience or advanced degree in nursing leadership in lieu of experience.
*Informal leadership experience is preferred (charge RN clinical educator preceptor etc.).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
*Fundamental understanding of the business side of assigned department/unit (P&L finance budget etc.).
*Availability for on-call and off-hours rotations/situations as decided by department/unit.
*Desired characteristics: strategic thinker collaborative seeks to understand embraces continuous improvement navigates through change calm demeanor positive attitude.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employees scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary this position may be eligible for medical dental vision retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.

Department Overview

Our neonatal program is the largest in the Midwest. We provide the full scope of care for infants needing intensive care. At the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Childrens Minnesota Minneapolis Campus our inter-disciplinary team of over 500 professionals is dedicated to the care of babies with life-changing diagnoses. We specialize in caring for infants needing level III and level IV intensive care including babies born prematurely or with birth defects congenital heart disease genetic disorders or medical disorders; babies who need extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO); babies needing body cooling and any baby needing surgery. We care for babies requiring complex care such as hemodynamic monitoring critical medication management maintenance of systemic perfusion and management of organ failure. We are part of the Mother Baby Center in Minneapolis at Abbott Northwestern Hospital which includes a large high-risk delivery service a fetal surgery program and a perinatal clinic. The Childrens Minneapolis NICU is a 44-bed level III and level IV unit and is supported by a step-down level II infant care center and special care nursery. Our team balances a highly technical skill set with a family-centered approach. Position Summary

The patient care manager (PCM) has overall responsibility for ensuring that services and programs provided through their assigned department/unit is child and family focused clinically appropriate operationally efficient and achieves effective patient outcomes. The PCM will directly manage RN staff and assist in leadership of clinical support staff.
