Team Structure
The Firm is looking to develop its Legal & Regulatory Risk team. The team provides risk management support to the Firm (including each of its international offices) to ensure that it along with its partners and employees adhere to the legal and regulatory frameworks within which they operate. The role will report to the Head of Legal & Regulatory Risk.
Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Legal & Regulatory Risk you will deal with a diverse range of risk and compliance related queries and initiatives from across the business both on a day-to-day basis and in relation to risk management and firm wide projects as appropriate. You will provide proactive support on a range of legal regulatory and other risk issues including but not limited to:
- developing and maintaining internal relationships across the business (with both practice teams and business service steam) to deliver on risk project goals;
- developing maintaining and updating the Firms risk management policies procedures and guidance notes;
- proactively responding to daily queries in the team inbox which relate to a variety of risk management areas;
- assisting colleagues in business services teams with general risk management issues;
- reviewing and negotiating supplier agreements including but not limited to supporting business services teams and onboard new technology providers;
- assisting with data protection compliance including handling subject access requests and data breaches;
- reviewing and advising on outside counsel terms and client-requested edits to the Firms Standard Terms of Business;
- providing support to fee earners on ad hoc risk related queries and assisting with professional conduct issues;
- development and delivery of face-to-face and virtual risk related training to relevant practice groups and business services teams and general awareness raising amongst partners and employees;
- supporting on cross functional projects as needed
- monitoring legal and regulatory developments in the risk and compliance sector (including for the Firms international offices) and ensuring that fee earners are kept up to date with any significant changes; and
- serving as a point of escalation to the Business Acceptance team for complex and challenging conflict of interest and financial sanctions issues.
Most of our roles are hybrid meaning that colleagues benefit from working in our office and remotely. This is a full-time role with a requirement of being in the London office for 3 days per week.
Attributes/Skills Required
The successful candidate will need to have the following experience:
- qualified solicitor with a minimum of two years experience of working at a large or City law firm (equivalent experience will be considered) either (i) within the firms internal risk/general counsel department and/or (ii) as a fee earner within a commercial team;
- experience drafting reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts;
- working knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory regimes including the UK GDPR SRAs Standards and Regulations UK Bribery Act 2010 and Market Abuse and Insider Trading laws;
- proven track record of working to deadlines together with strong organisational skills including prioritisation and the ability and confidence to make business critical decisions;
- excellent interpersonal skills the person will liaise with both lawyers and business services groups in each case at all levels of seniority;
- effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence at all levels;
- ability to understand the expectations of different stakeholder groups and individuals across the business and to manage their expectations and frequently communicate across the relevant teams; and
- ability to write clear accurate and practical guidance and precedents.
- Experience of and comfortable delivering training on various topics across the Firm
