The Position

We are seeking an intern to join the Developmental Systems and Computational Biology group led by Gray Camp at the Institute of Human Biology (IHB) in Basel Institute of Human Biology (IHB) is a research center in Basel Switzerland dedicated to engineering advanced human model systems for drug discovery development and precision medicine. The IHB fosters an interdisciplinary environment bridging academic and pharmaceutical research connecting biologists engineers and data scientists. It has close ties to Roches pRED organization and collaborates globally. Basel is an international hub for research innovation cultivating training environments through institutions like the University of Basel and ETH Zürichs Department of Biosystems Sciences and Engineering creating long-term value and a melting pot of research development and commercialization.

The Opportunity

  • In this exciting research environment you will contribute to exploratory and translational research by employing complex human model systems.

  • You will have the possibility to perform sophisticated cell culture experiments using PSC-derived neurons and/or ASC-derived organoids

  • In this position you will generate high-quality data to drive the development of these advanced models.

Who You Are

  • You are an enrolled Masters or PhD student in biology biotechnology or a related degree or graduated from your Bachelor or Master studies within the last 12 months prior to the start date

  • You have strong experience in cell culture preferably adult stem cell-organoids

  • You have a drive to understand organoids and other complex models of human biology and disease

  • Applicants with prior training in performing stainings and imaging are preferred

  • Prior training and/or experience in screen design is a plus

  • Experience in analysing complex imaging data is a plus

Additional Information

  • This internship is based in Basel Switzerland and work will be conducted on-site.

  • The position is scheduled to start as soon as possible with a duration of 12 months.

  • This is a full-time opportunity; part-time arrangements are not possible.

  • Writing a thesis during this internship is permitted.
