Pay range: $88540 per year
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills training experience education and where applicable certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Has the overall responsibilityfor the planning coordination evaluation and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities and staff members in the foroperating the lab with the highest qualitysafety and integrityin an efficientandeconomicalmanner.
Responsibilities- Plan assignand direct work in the laboratory. Serve as liaison with other areas as needed.
- Mentor and support direct reports in their responsibilities and implement training programs as necessarytoensurethey receive training in supervisory skill development.
- Define coordinateand monitor quality assurance programs and supervise activities of thedepartment Quality Coordinator/Representative. Ensure quality control and compliance procedures are followed and QC reports are up to preparationsfor inspections.
- Oversee staffing of all personnel in the laboratory. Effectively maintain quality staffing by interviewing hiring training andproviding staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
- Identifyfuture needs in terms of staff equipment and appropriate documentation for procurement of such.
- Review test performance drive processimprovementsand project management. Prepare and submit required reports to meet established deadlines.
- Manage test database. Ensure departmental standard operating procedures and database accurately reflects the current process.
- Coordinate R&D activities astheyrelate to operations and actively participate on subspecialty committees corporate committeesand business unit committees as needed.
- Develop annual budget and manage department costs and resources to adhere to budget.
- Resolve problems through interaction with clients.
- Define coordinate and monitor EHS programs and supervise activities of the Department Safety Coordinator. Ensure EHS regulatory standards and safety procedures are followed. Oversee plans and preparations for inspections.
- Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe functional and sanitary condition.
- Adheres to all established CLIA HIPAA OSHA and laboratory safety requirements.
- Required to use (a) personal protective equipment (b) engineering controls and/or (c) work practice controls as directed by management.
- Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections.

QualificationsRequired WorkExperience:
Minimum of eight (8) years laboratory experience with at least four (4) years direct supervisory experiencein a clinical laboratory.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
- Ability tosit or stand forlong periods of time.
- May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of whichdemand significant manualdexterity.
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty required.
- Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
Skills:
- Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Must be detail-oriented have the ability to work independently establish work priorities and to handle several tasks simultaneously for maximum department efficiency.
- Interpersonaland communicationskills necessary to deal courteously and effectively withemployeesco-workers andclients.
- Ability to deal with client information in a confidential manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel and Outlook) andLaboratory Information Systems.
Education
- Bachelors Degree Medical Technology or related field. (Preferred)
- Masters Degree (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- ASCP Certification (Preferred)
- Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license. (CA Only) (Required)
