Every summer KWS offers full-time internships (mandatory internships only) at our cereal breeding station in Bergen-Wohlde. These paid internships typically last at least one month preferably longer and take place between the end of April and October. During your internship you will gain your first-on experience in practical plant breeding in one or more of the following areas:
- Yield trials
- Seed production
- Line development
Your tasks
- Conducting trait assessments and performing all technical tasks related to plant breeding
- Supporting the team responsible for producing experimental seed in Italy
- Practical work during the harvest of trials and inbred lines
- Preparing and sowing experimental seeds
- Working in seed processing
- Participating in lectures on practical plant breeding and breeding station management (summer school)
Your profile
- Enrolled Bachelors or Masters student in agriculture horticulture or a similar field
- Strong interest in practical plant breeding
- Perseverance when working outdoors and in greenhouses under various weather conditions
- Willingness and flexibility to work overtime during peak season
- Strong sense of community and team spirit
- Willingness to travel for short stays at external locations
- Good English skills basic German skills are an advantage
- A drivers license (Class B) is desirable
