Civil Project Designer Fairfax VA

IMEG is hiring a Civil Project Designer in Fairfax VA to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects while collaborating with senior staff on larger more complex work. Youll work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to deliver positive client outcomes through civil engineering analysis design support field inspections reporting and permit application supportwhile working within the projects monetary budget and collaborating across teams.

Principal Responsibilities

• Direct and train Civil Design Technicians to assist them in completing reports exhibits plans and specifications and permit applications as required by the projects contractual scope

• Lead design efforts for the analysis of civil site design projects for commercial residential industrial projects etc.; utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs specifications and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards

• Prepare and support site drainage grading and stormwater design work as required by project scope

• Complete and oversee permit applications for a variety of municipalities in coordination with the team Client and reviewing jurisdiction

• Perform engineering analysis field inspections and technical documentation to support project delivery

• Write reports and maintain clear project records to support internal and client needs

• Oversee projects through bidding and construction administration phase

• Interact with clients to understand their needs gather project requirements and communicate technical information effectively; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent required

• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred

• 3 years of experience minimum required or equivalent required

• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred

• 3 years of experience minimum required 4 preferred in the building design consulting industry OR

• Associates degree or certificate in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred

• 7 years of experience minimum required 8 preferred in the building design consulting or construction industry

• Knowledge of industry standard engineering software primarily Civil 3D

• Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors.

• Proficiency in design techniques tools and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

• Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in the civil engineering field

• Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff

• Able to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word Excel and Outlook
