Pay range: $67000 per year
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills training experience education and where applicable certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Under direction of the manager/director plan organize schedule and direct the work of the section in order to effectively maximize employees equipment and material utilization within budgetary constraints while adhering to quality technical standards. Accountable for quantity and quality of specimens handled and test results.
Responsibilities- Oversee activities of the department distribute/assign work determine priorities schedule non-routine procedures.
- Resolves technical problems in accordance with established policies and procedures; is available to testing personnel at all times that tests are being performed to provide on-site telephone or electronic consultation.
- Monitors test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained to include review of quality control instrument and equipment maintenance and other quality assurance activities.
- Perform supervisory functions for their assigned staff including interviewing hiring training competency assessments and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
- Perform advanced/specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques. May duplicate work of others to confirm test results. Re-evaluate methodology make recommended changes and assist in test interpretation. Determine if further testing should be done on samples or if test should be repeated.
- Check/approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy. Assures that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.
- Initiate quality-control measures and monitor quality of work for adherence to laboratory standards.
- Responsible for the development and on-going maintenance of a detailed laboratory procedure manual; format as established to meet accreditation and licensing requirements.
- Perform duties of technologist as necessitated by absence or peak workload.
- Completes special projects as requested - surveys statistical reports studies research etc.
- Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe functional and sanitary condition.
- Establish and maintain training and competency programs as appropriate.
- Adheres to all established CLIA HIPAA OSHA and laboratory safety requirements.
- Required to use (a) personal protective equipment (b) engineering controls and/or (c) work practice controls as directed by management.
- Actively supports and complies with company and laboratory policies and procedures.
- Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel if applicable.
- Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections if needed.
- Escalates any problems associated with the proper performance of test procedures and all complaints concerning the validity of test results turnaround times and the like.

Qualifications*Immunology experience highly preferred
Education Required:
- BS/BA in Medical Technology Chemistry or Biology
- Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from National Association Credential Evaluation Services Inc. (NACES) or Association of International Credential evaluators Inc. (AICE).
Education Preferred:
- Bachelors degree in medical technology preferred
Required WorkExperience:
Four (4) years full-time clinical testing experience in the specialty for employees with a Bachelors Degree.
-OR-
Two (2) years full-time clinical testing experience in the specialty for employees with a Masters Degree.
- OR-
One (1) year full-time clinical testing experience in the specialty for employees with a PhD
Preferred Work Experience:
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
- The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects: Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
- Frequent walking and/or standing.
- May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.
Work Environment:
- Required to handle biological samples and potentially hazardous chemicals.
Knowledge:
- Comprehensive theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty required.
- Thorough knowledge of technical aspects of all tests performed and equipment utilized in the discipline for which he/she is responsible.
- Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
Skills:
- Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Must be detail-oriented have the ability to work independently establish work priorities and to handle several tasks simultaneously for maximum department efficiency.
- Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with employees co-workers and clients.
- Ability to deal with client information in a confidential manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel and Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems.
- Ability to make sound decision under stressful situations.
- Analytical skills necessary to determine and correct operational problems and to schedule and plan the work of others.
