Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Facility Maintenance Technician will be responsible for skilled and semi-skilled work in a variety of maintenance repair and construction jobs involving common tools and equipment and will frequently operate specialized equipment. Responsible for facility maintenance at all BMC locations within the High Point Winston-Salem Greensboro Kernersville Jamestown Mt Airy and North Wilkesboro locations. This position requires the use of the employees own personal vehicle. Work may also be done occasionally in the Raleigh area. Work will be performed under the regular supervision of the Facilities Management Supervisor.

Responsibilities include:

• Working knowledge of plumbing electrical and HVAC systems.

• Facility maintenance of all BMC locations including High Point Greensboro Winston-Salem Kernersville and Raleigh.

• Use power and hand tools for repetitive operations.

• Perform work required for facility maintenance.

• Perform clean-up duties at all sites.

• Maintenance work that involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions e.g. working around moving parts or machines fumes or irritant chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks goggles gloves or shields.

• Participates in the pick-up loading and unloading of materials needed for work assignments.

• Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.

• Work that requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing walking recurrent bending crouching stretching and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• At least 5 years of experience with maintenance or facilities preferred.

• Knowledge of Commercial Codes.

• Valid NC Drivers License and the ability to maintain a good driving record while employed

• Use of ones own personal vehicle

• Ability to interact with a diverse client population.
