Person hired in this role will perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. The scope of the role includes Service Shops. Impacts approaches projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy requiring high levels of operational judgment.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Manage an operation business unit or part of a production facility in order to reach defined targets in quality cost delivery and safety. Ensure continuous business improvement according to benchmarks and standards. Team management of salaried employees. This does not include production supervisors who oversee hourly employees.
Establish and maintain a structured cadence for daily weekly and monthly production line management (e.g. tier meetings reviews of safety quality delivery and cost) ensuring consistent progress and accountability for key metrics. Ensure seamless adoption of GE Aerospaces proprietary FLIGHT DECK operating model to improve the effectiveness of line processes and practices.
Leadproduction planning activitiesfor the manufacturing line including capacity planning scheduling and sequencing of work to meet customer demand optimize resource utilization and ensure on-time delivery.
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering Quality Supply Chain and other functions on operations manage metrics and dashboards and oversee timely execution of line-level processes ensuring commitments are met on time and at cost. Provide project and initiative leadership on the line ensuring alignment with key stakeholders and establishing clear milestones targets and schedules.
Act as a resource and coach for colleagues with less experience on the line. Lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus. Develop persuasion and influence skills to drive alignment on priorities and standard work.
Use a high level of judgment to make decisions in a fast-paced production environment handle complex tasks or problems and assess the quality of information provided. Ask pertinent questions to stakeholders offer new solutions leverage internal and external sources and provide clear recommendations.
Lead functional or cross-functional improvement projects with limited resource requirements risk and/or complexity focused on safety quality delivery and cost improvements. Communicate difficult concepts and influence others opinions on topics related to line performance. Guide others to consider different points of view and adopt improved practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering Manufacturing or Supply Chain Management from an accredited college or university.
Solid experience in Manufacturing & Operations Management business operations or supply chain management preferably in a production line leadership or similar shop-floor role.
Desired Characteristics
Experience with financial operationsproduction planning and program or project management tools.
Strong track record of working in a team environment with demonstrated leadership and customer (internal or external) interface skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects or production initiatives. Ability to document plan and execute work against clear targets. Established project management skills
