A Brief Overview
Provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services. Assists in maintaining a safe environment acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of patients provides empathic active listening skills engagement and support case management and ensures a recovery-oriented environment throughout the addition provides indirect unit support needs related to supplies and equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participants hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking. Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools. Models hope personal responsibility and self-advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how a belief in self is maintained. Assists in developing natural supports and community living. Cultivates connectedness in the persons life (self others the environment and to meaning and purpose). Coordinates with the individuals clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals. Completes clinical documentation as required. Understands and adheres to organizations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Basic computer skills Effective communication skills To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge skills minimum education training licensure experience and/or ability required. Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age Required and
  • Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges Required
  • Healthcare student or comparable work experience in a health care environment Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and behavioral management skills that promote safety Basic computer skills Ability to problem solve Ability to document per regulatory guidelines Effective communication skills

Licenses and Certifications

  • Peer Employment Training - Certification as a Peer Support Specialist within 90 Days Required and
  • BLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • Non-Violent Intervention training within 30 Days Required
