TITLE:Instructor/Fellow
DEPARTMENT: Neurology:Epilepsy
REPORTS TO:Division Chief
The Department of Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicinehas an opening fora one-yearfellowship position (instructor)in the Division ofEpilepsy.
The goal of theEpilepsyfellowship isto provide training to neurologistsin the care of patients withepilepsy and to further the mission and vision of theEpilepsy Programin patient care research and education.Theresponsibilities inthisepilepsy fellowship will include the following:
Refining skills in pre-surgical evaluations with intracranial electrodes in patients who implanted with depth electrodes and subdural grids.
Involvein the mapping of eloquent cortex with electrical stimulation of depth electrodes and subdural grids.
Participatein the reading of EEGs at UMH the PAC Jackson Memorial Hospital and Jackson South.
Responsible for call schedulecovering the epilepsy-monitoring unit (EMU) when the first-year fellows are unavailable.
Outpatientclinic which will include a satellite biweekly clinic at Boca Raton.
Participate in a research project thatshould bedevelopedwith the assistance of one of the epilepsy faculty members.Expectedto submit at least an abstract to a national or international meeting.
Participatein the teaching of medical students neurology residents and junior fellows.
Applicants must possess a Medical Degree from an accredited Medical School Florida Medical License and eligible to take the Board in Neurology and Psychiatry.A previous fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology will be preferred.
