Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Roles and responsibilities
- Develop modify and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis CNC machines (e.g. vertical and horizontal machining centers lathes mills) using CAD/CAM software
Interpret engineering drawings blueprints 3D models and technical specifications to create accurate CNC programs that align with production requirements.
Provide guidance to CNC technicians in setting up CNC machines and tooling ensuring that programs are implemented correctly and efficiently.
Assist in machine calibration tool selection and verification of machine settings to ensure accuracy and repeatability in production.
Troubleshoot CNC programming or machining issues on the shop floor and make necessary adjustments to programs or machine settings.
Identify opportunities for process improvements cost savings and cycle time reductions through analysis of machine performance and program efficiency.
Work closely with Process Engineers and production teams to ensure manufacturability of new parts into production.
Collaborate with the Quality Engineering team to ensure that parts meet specifications and quality standards adjusting programs as necessary.
Review and validate CNC programs before production to ensure compliance with engineering drawings specifications and quality standards.
Maintain detailed records of CNC programs tool settings and process parameters for future reference and traceability.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in CNC technology programming software and manufacturing trends sharing knowledge with the team.
Required qualifications
- 5 years experience with CAD/CAM software ERP systems and other engineering tools
Virtual machine environment simulation
3-5 years experience working with Mill Turn and 5 axis machines
2 years experience in aerospace industry - English advanced
Desired characteristics
- CAD/CAM Software (Siemens NX is a plus)
- Sinumerik 840D controller
- CSE (Virtual machine environment for simulation)
